The PST Board of Directors would like t o congratulate the PST Swimmers, Coaches, and Volunteers who made the team’s first NE Swimming Sanctioned Specialty Meet an overwhelming success!  In planning the event the Board had the following goals: to host a USS sanctioned meet, to expose more of the team’s swimmers to a USS meet, to increase PST awareness to USA swimmers and to the general public and most importantly to determine if hosting a USS meet could be a potential source of future revenue that may help stabilize swimmer dues and fees.

The board is proud to announce that the team’s first USS meet has met or exceeded its goals in that the meet was organized and run within the parameters set by NE Swimming and the majority of our enrolled summer swimmers participated in the meet, including several first time USS swimmers. The board also believes that by advertising the meet online, having other teams’ swimmers participate, and by giving all swimmers and coaches a brightly colored t-shirt with the team name and specialty meet date on it, has added to PST awareness and credibility.  Most importantly, the team was able to accomplish all of its goals and still make a small profit, leading the PST Board to believe that if we can increase participation from other teams, it will be a good source of future revenue. 

There are many positive signs that if PST holds another specialty meet next summer that the number of non-PST swimmers will increase.  We have received many positive comments from coaches and officials stating that our meet was well run and organized.  We have already received inquiries from coaches from teams that participated, as well as from teams that didn’t, about next year. There was a wonderful spirit of cooperation among all the volunteers that made this event truly a team effort. 

The board realizes that running a high volume Specialty meet may take a number of years to accomplish, but this initial one has given us confidence and a solid foundation to build on. Once again the PST Board would like to thank all those who participated and made our first sanctioned meet a success.
